| Final phase decisive: Mehbooba | | | Srinagar, Dec 20- Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti has said the party's pro-people agenda has made it to emerge as a genuine, strong and credible voice of Jammu and Kashmir to uphold the honor and dignity of its people. "By overwhelmingly voting for PDP, the people have reposed their faith in our policies and it would be our obligation to repay them by doing justice with the sacred mandate," she said. Addressing series of election rallies in Amirakadal constituency today, Mehbooba said PDP Government would (God willing), venture out with fresh resolve to rekindle a new hope among the State's distressed, agonized and traumatized masses. "I am making a passionate plea to the people of Srinagar, especially our young boys and girls, to become the partners in this new enterprise of hope or the State to be led by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed," she said. "While the people who voted in last six phases have reiterated their faith in PDP, it could be now fortified only with the gracious support of the people voting in the final phase on December 24," Mehbooba said. She said PDP's unaccomplished agenda of bringing peace and stability to the State, ensuring security and dignity of our citizens, making our youth socially and economically secure, speeding up basic economic development, reviving cross-LoC reconciliation, rehabilitation of the victims of violence, reduction of troops and revocation of the special powers would be taken to its logical conclusion. Mehbooba blamed the Farooq Abdullah-led National Conference Government of having snatched the bread and butter of thousands of families in Srinagar by announcing a ban on Shatoosh trade on June 29, 2000 at the behest of Omar Abdullah who was then in the Union Commerce Ministry. "What did Dr Abdullah do to provide succor to the affected families," she asked.
