| Patting own back can't cover up follies: Chaman | | | Early times report
Jammu, Dec 20 Holding Congress and National Conference responsible for political mess and many other problems in Jammu and Kashmir, the former Union Minister and senior BJP leader, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta observed that it was only during the Vajpayee led NDA rule that Government was changed through ballot and the confidence of the people was restored in the democratic process.
Addressing election meetings at Old Rehari, Rajpura, Janipura and other places, Prof. Gupta ridiculed the claims of the PDP and Congress that because of their functioning during the past six years have generated a climate that large number of electorates have come out to cast their votes and expressed their confidence in the democratic process. He said thumping of their own back cannot cover up their follies committed during the past over five decades in playing fraud with the ballot and it was because of their unopposed victories and other foul play that gave birth to all these problems and regional tensions.
The heavy turn out during the polling, he observed was not only a blow to the preachers of boycott of the polls but also indicated a no- confidence against the Congress and its allies who ruled the roost during the past.
Disputing the claims of the congress leaders of progress and prosperity he held both Congress and NC responsible for regional disparities and discrimination against Jammu and impressed upon the electorates to defeat those especially the Ministers of the coalition who were responsible for all these crimes and injustices.
Sureshta Jamwal, Usha Bhan, Chander Mohan Sharma, Dinesh Gupta, N D Rajwal, Dr. Akshey, Chander Mohan Gupta, Adarsh Dogra, and Sudesh Mangotra also addressed these rallies. |
