11/15/2022 10:18:33 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 15: Giving a strong message to ensure cleanliness at all levels across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta on Tuesday emphasized on adopting latest scientific interventions towards solid waste management and batted for the ground implementation of the same in letter and spirit.
The former Mayor was speaking as the Chief Guest during an awareness programme on source segregation, here at Government High School Rajpura, Shakti Nagar.
The awareness event was followed by a cleanliness drive in which students, staff and locals participated with great zeal and zest.
The former Mayor said that the segregation at source requires multiple stakeholders to collaborate and align to engender the enabling ecosystem. He said that the modern science has shown the world that the efficient solid waste management hinges crucially on the segregation at source and therefore it has become necessary to educate society on the issue to lower the burden of filth and garbage from urban hamlets, which are the worst affected due to tons of loads of filth and trash.
Chairman Swachh Bharat Hardev Singh Mankotia, Atul Bakshi Mandal President, Ved Gupta Senior leader BJP and others were also present during the programme.
Later, a cleanliness drive was organized in the vicinity to spread awareness over the theme of the day.
Chander Mohan said that unhygienic surroundings always self created, and this needs introspection, "Swachh Bharat Mission" is the flagship program of the Government of India and Jammu and Kashmir Government is extending every possible help to make it a success, but for that everyone of us have to contribute as it becomes our collective responsibility to keep our surroundings neat and clean.
The locals appreciated the endeavour of the BJP leadership in imparting awareness among the young blood and common masses over this most vital issue which the society is confronting today.
