Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 21 -Terming the claims by the Delhi Chief Minister, Sheela Dixshat and those of other Congress leaders that their party would again come to power after the polling in Jammu and Kashmir as wishful thinking, the senior BJP leader, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta observed that the hollowness of such tall claims is already exposed because of the Congress leadership is in a secret alliance with the PDP but even after this understanding the Congress would not come to power.

Addressing election meetings at Indira Nagar, Subash Nagar, Janipura and other localities of Jammu West Assembly constituency, Prof. Gupta alleged that Congress had always been betraying the people and has come to be habitual to function as an appendix (Punchh) of Kashmir based parties, whether it was the National Conference or that of the PDP. By doing so they did not bother for the rights of the people as also those of the entire nation, he added and said that the Congress leaders from Jammu never took care of the rights of this region resulting in disparities and discrimination.

The BJP leader disputed the claims of progress and prosperity being made by the Congress leaders and maintained that the Ghulam Nabi Azad led dispensation was the most incompetent and irresponsive resulting in spate up agitations and anti-Government demonstrations. He was highly critical of the Azad Government for not implementing the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission despite loud promises with the result the Government employees are still agitating for implementation of the recommendations. He also assailed this Government for not increasing the emoluments of the Daily Wagers and other workers even after there was sharp rise in the price index.
