Dr Pavan delivers oration

JAMMU, Nov 19: Dr. Pavan Malhotra, Director Principal and Professor of Pharmacology, Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences & Hospital, Sidhra, Jammu was invited by International Medical Sciences Academy to deliver the prestigious Dr. Pratap C. Reddy IMSA International oration during IMSACON-2022 organized with the theme "Medicine and Beyond" at Terna Knowledge City, Navi Mumbai on 19th November, 2022 in association with Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. Dr. Malhotra spoke in depth on "Prescribing behavior: Let's change the Future Generation". During the deliberations, he laid emphasis on targeting the young prescribers for changing their mindset of continuing legacy of their predecessors in irrational prescribing. He also informed the audience aboutthe errors which could be encountered if the drugs are prescribed with caution. Describing the irrational prescribing and errors of Medication as a global issue, he laid stress on the Regulatory authorities world over to take cognizance of the situation for the remedial measures to be undertaken for its prevention. He also stressed upon youngsters to follow the Good Clinical Practices guidelines issued by WHO in order toensure safety of the patient. Laying stress on adopting the policy of rational use of medicines and good prescribing guidelines, he stressed on budding prescribers to keep in mind the safety of patient as the utmost priority before prescribing. Dr. Malhotra is the first medical professional from J&K who has been invited to deliver this most prestigious oration.
Recetly, Dr. Malhotra has been awardedwith FRCP from Royal College of Physicians of Edinburg. He is also MRCP (2014) and FRCP (2019) from Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow, fellow of International Medical Sciences Academy, UAE(2012), Member of National Academy of Medical Sciences (2013). An alumnus of Govt. Medical College, Jammu brought laurels to J&K by becoming the first medical professional to have been bestowed upon the honour of delivering the prestigious oration at IMSACON - 2022.
While speaking to Excelsior correspondent on phone, Dr. Malhotra described this moment as once in life time opportunity which has been bestowed upon him by the International Medical Sciences Academy.
He also was of the opinion that IMSA is a good platform for young medical Postgraduates to express their talent in the field of medicine.
