Early Times Report

Srinagar, Dec 21- Asserting that cordial bilateral relations between India and Pakistan are the basic essence for lasting peace in the sub-continent, Dr. Farooq Abdullah former chief minister and patron J&K National Conference said that peace in the subcontinent is not possible unless and until the relations between India and Pakistan are strengthened and developed.
Dr. Abdullah said both India and Pakistan should work for creating an atmosphere of understanding and confidence among each other, so that both the countries and the state can flourish. He said the people of Jammu and Kashmir want peace and it is only possible when the mistrust between the two counties is removed and cordial relations are strengthened.
Dr. Abdullah who addressed public meetings at Khonmoh, Balhama and road shows on five kilometer stretch from Gagribal to Buchwar in Sonwar assembly constituency today said J&K National Conference is the only party which can be a bridge between Indian and Pakistani political leadership and assist both in creating a congenial atmosphere for better bilateral relationship.
Expressing happiness over the peace on the borders, Dr. Abdullah said ‘I hope that this peace may continue to prevail, so that the people on both sides can flourish and prosper’.
He said his party has played a pivotal role in the past for better Indo-Pak relations and shall continue to do so in the future as well in the interest of the two countries and for the welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Dr. Abdullah reminded the people about his landmark visit to Pakistan in 1974 and his meeting with Zulfikar Ali Bhutoo, the then Prime Minister of Pakistan, where he took up the issue of opening of roads between the two parts which he said has helped the two countries to come closer.

Dr. Abdullah said even during the recent All Parties meeting at New Delhi, I pleaded for accelerating dialogue process than war for which political parties like BJP were favouring. Dr. Abdullah said he stressed that dialogue is the only process which can facilitate return of peace in the subcontinent.

Coming down heavily on PDP for ignoring the general plight of the people of the state and bringing destruction and bloodshed to this peaceful state, Dr. Abdullah said Mufti Muhammad Sayeed's anti-people polices have added miseries to the people of the state. They (PDP) indulged in divisive politics and tried to divide the people of the state on regional, religious, caste and ethnic basis for vote bank politics thereby destroying the traditional secular fabric of the state, he said.

NC Patron said their (PDP's) ministers during six years of coalition rule swindled public money with all wrong means and methods and built their own houses and bartered the interest of the common people with their own personal interest.

Dr. Abdullah said National Conference if voted to power will probe into all those embezzlements and wrong doing of the coalition ministers.
