Cooperative movement holds great significance in current scenario: DC Ramban

RAMBAN, Nov 19: Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mussarat Islam today presided over a ceremonial programme organized by the Cooperative Department to celebrate 69th Cooperative Week, here at the Conference Hall of the District Administrative Complex.
The programme commenced with the singing of the National Anthem.
Chief Horticulture Officer Anil Gorka; DSHO, Dr. Vikas Gupta; AD Fisheries Fayaz Ahmed and other officers of line departments, Assistant Registrars including Mohd Anjum of Ramban, Fidha Hussain, Gool, Paramveer Singh Ukhral and Senior Auditor Umar Shabir & other staff members were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the significance of cooperative movement. He said the Cooperative movement holds great significance in the current scenario and gave valuable ideas for the same. He called for the formation of the Anardana consortium under the cooperative department in the district, “This will enable the stakeholders to decide the market rates for their product,” he added.
He further called for marketing of local organic products of district Ramban with special focus on packaging, SWOT analysis of various products like Anardana, Honey, Walnut etc , establishing links with Patnitop hotel Association, Inter-linkages of Cooperative department with govt department such as NRLM, NABARD, Horticulture, agriculture, Employment, etc.
The Deputy Commissioner suggested holding weekly Rural Haat or kiosks of trout fish for its promotion & sale and finding possible linkages with hotels and restaurants.
Earlier, Deputy Registrar Cooperatives, Priyanka Sharma presented a power-point presentation on the working of the Cooperative Department, besides highlighting the role, work, achievements, and progress made on the deliverables assigned for the year 2022_2023 in the district Ramban.
She informed that the major highlight of the 69th cooperative week in the district, as pointed out by DRCS Ramban, was the completion of documents of the proposed “The Chenab Fisheries Farmer Producer Organization (FFPO) cooperative under J&K Self Reliant cooperative act 1999.
The DC also gave away Registration Certificates to the members of 14 newly registered cooperatives besides felicitating members of cooperative societies for their outstanding accomplishments and contributions in strengthening the Cooperative movement in District Ramban.
