| Give Congress full majority for full development: Azad | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 21- Regretting that he had hardly started to resolve the long pending issues and fulfill the people’s dreams, the former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said that the jealous coalition leaders in collusion with like minded leaders overthrew his government. He said that now people should vote him back into the power with full majority to fulfill all their dreams of development, eradicate corruption and unemployment to make Khushhal J&K.
On the penultimate day of campaigning for the seventh and last phase of polling, he reiterated this while addressing the public rallies at Alleh (Bishna), Gangyal, Samba, Vijaypur, Nagrota , Shaheedi Chowk and Jewel Chowk to campaign for Congress candidates Gulchain Singh Charak, Raman Bhalla, Subhash Bhagat ,Hari Singh Choudhary, Abdul Hamid and Narinder Singh Jamwal (Raju). Praising these candidates for their dedication, commitment, hard work, honesty and integrity, he said that nowadays only a selfless leader or a politician can survive as the voters have now learnt to test and judge their leaders. He felt that there has been a tremendous change in the state politics which is evident by the heavy participation of voters and leaders particularly in the valley. Expressing satisfaction, he said that after a long time, the Congress has carved a niche for itself in the state, particularly in the valley where it was considered “untouchable”. He said that he had first resolved the pending demand of creating more administrative units in the state by implementing the Wazir Commission report beyond its recommendations and formed 8 districts, 12 tehsils, 3 sub-divisions and two Niabats. Secondly, with the help of Central government he had got an economic survey done in the state to assess the economic status of all the three regions of the state and then set up the Financial Commission, which reflected the gross disparity of development in the state. He said that thirdly, he got the Delimitation Commission passed in the cabinet but unfortunately because of the non-cooperation of other coalition partners he could not get it passed in the Assembly. And the foremost demand of having the chief minister from Jammu region was met when he had become the chief minister. “Now, the only thing left is the full majority of Congress through which the dream of Khushal J&K could be realized,” said Azad. He said that as committed in the party manifesto if he returns to power he would scrutinize sympathetically the demands of ex-servicemen and fulfill them. He promised that he would regularize the services of all the Daily wagers of the state and will remove the disparity in the wages to labourers serving in various departments. He said that he would evolve a mechanism to monitor reservation policy in government jobs provided for Scheduled castes and Scheduled Tribes.
