Jammu, Nov 21: A Protest was organized by Gurmeet Singh President Beopar Mandal & District General Secretary Congress and also Ward no.3, President Hardavinder Singh, and others. It was a part of the Congress party's initiative, the Ward Level Program Contacted to reach the local people of Jammu at the grassroots level and take stock of troubles being faced by them.
It was observed that the streets are in a very bad condition for the last 2 to 3 years and the infants & children’s are unable to walk over and most of the times they fell and get hurt severely but still this area of ward no. 5, is overlooked and required repairs with immediate effects. The reparative of the BJP Govt has never visited the area and never heard the problem of the people. BJP Govt. has announced the Jammu as Smart city but on the other hand no concrete steps have been taken by the BJP Govt. to make Jammu as Smart City. But the people of Jammu are still looking forward of this dream of the Jammu as Smart city comes true.
The complaint was already raised by the Concerned Municipal Corporator to the JMC but still remain un-address & no action or steps taken to resolve these issue even complaints given by Elected/ Nominated member.
Gurmeet Singh toured the ward no. 5, and heard the concerns of the residents and assured them he would take their issues, including the problem of and water shortage and urge the authorities and to look into their grievances. The party expressed concern over the panic amongst the people due to lack of proper facilities and negligence on the part of the BJP/ J&k UT Govt.
The locals told Gurmeet Singh that they suffer countless problems in their area. Some of the major problems they face include poor condition of Street and drainage systems among others. They said that they had repeatedly raised these issues but no steps have been taken so far. Speaking on the matter, Gurmeet Singh said that the residents of Ward no.5, of Jammu East are extremely disappointed with the low level of governance in their area.
The infrastructure is not repaired regularly whether it is on the part of streets or the entire Drainage system. The residents narrated countless problems with the infrastructure. On personally visited in that area, we found that most of the lights are not functioning, damage streets, over-flow drainage system, dirt / garbage spilled-over,etc. in that residential area. The high mast light at the Near Street lane Back side DC office has also been not functioning since long time but no one has come to repair them or trouble shot these issues.
