Workshop Demonstration Series inaugurated at GLDM Degree College

Hiranagar, Nov 21: Workshop Demonstration Series with 11 different institutions organized by GLDM GDC, Hiranagar in collaboration with SPIC MACAY was inaugurated here today at GLDM Degree College by lighting the lamp by the dignitaries. Dr. Pragya Khanna, Principal of GLDM GDC, Hiranagar in was the chief guest on the occasion. The expert of the workshop was Amjad Ali Khan who is an eminent Hindustani Vocalist from Delhi and his associate on Tabla Rashid Niyazi. The upcoming venues for the workshop will be Kartar Public School, Rajbagh, Govt. Degree College, Marheen, Govt. Degree College, Mahanpur, Govt. Degree College, Billawar, Sai International School, Hirangar, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Hirangar, Govt. Degree College, Kathua, Govt. Degree College for Women, Kathua, Holy Family Convent School, Nagri, Govt. Higher Secondary School, Nagri will have the opportunity to get trained from the eminent Hindustani Vocalist.
Dr. Pragya Khanna in her address expressed gratitude to the experts and the SPIC MCAY in collaborating with the college in organizing such a wonderful workshop. The expert resource person Amjad Ali Khan is a distinguished Indian classical vocalist is a descendent of the family of Kirana Gharana musicians. He is blessed with a melodious, reverberating voice who is acclaimed worldwide for his mesmerizing Hindustani classical renditions that are a harmonious blend of melody and rhythm. His ability to balance the performances with sensitive alap/vistar, complex sargams and an onslaught of lightning fast taans has set him in a class apart. He is one of the contemporary singers of Kirana Gharana to have assimilated the essence of the meer-khand, vistar or development typical to the gharana. A total of 70 students of the college participated in the workshop. Amjad Ali Khan enthralled the gathering with his melodious and mesmerizing voice. All the participants showed great enthusiasm for the workshop. The proceedings of the programme were handled by Dr. Arun Kumar Head, Department of Sociology and formal vote of thanks by Dr. Bharat Bhushan the organizing team of the workshop also included Dr. Mukesh Kumar, Assistant Professor-Music, and Prof. Vikram Singh, HOD, Department of Physical Education & Sports.
