| Omar’s dream for Srinagar –Venice of Asia | | | Early Times Report Srinagar Dec 21- Omar Abdullah President J&K National Conference said that the PDP has done nothing in the last six years to develop Srinagar city because of a political vendetta and a malafide agenda to underscore the importance of Srinagar City. Omar said the coalition government only gave bad roads, electronic meters, bulldozers, unemployment and worst civic amenities to the residents of Srinagar in the last six years. Omar, who was addressing series of meetings in Amirakadal and Zadibal assembly constituencies in support of Nasir Wani and Peer Afaq Ahmad, said National Conference would develop Srinagar on the most modern lines and assured that it will truly be transformed to be the ‘Venice of Asia’. Omar said the assembly elections have no bearing on the Kashmir issue and these are only to resolve the day-to-day issues of the people. He said National Conference believes that the Kashmir issue can be resolved through a process of sustainable all inclusive dialogue which includes India, Pakistan, mainstream political parties, separatists, Hurriyat Conference, United Jehad Council and all others who have a direct or indirect stake in Kashmir issue. He said the resolution of the Kashmir issue has to be acceptable to all and should meet the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Omar said the National Conference government will work for the equitable development of the state and will usher a new era of unprecedented development and growth. He said the new National Conference government will focus on the employment of the unemployed youth of the state and shall work to create new avenues of employment besides filling the existing vacant posts in the government departments. Referring to the mis-utilization of the funds by the erstwhile PDP-Congress coalition government, Omar said they (PDP-Congress) have to answer as to where they have spent the Rs. 24000 crore package received from the Government of India for reviving the economy and providing basic amenities to the people of the state", he said they are accountable for each and every single penny mis-utilized by them.
