DC asks students to opt for skill oriented courses to enhance employability
DECC organises career counseling session at GCW Bhagwati Nagar

JAMMU, Nov 21: District Employment and Counselling Centre Jammu, in collaboration with Government College for Women Bhagwati Nagar, today organised a career counseling session focusing on job opportunities in the self employment sector and training & placement offered by Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
Deputy Commissioner Jammu Avny Lavasa was the chief guest on the occasion.
The College Principal, Dr. Meeru Abrol; Deputy Director DECC Jammu Manisha Koul along with senior officers of DECC, staff members of GCW and students were present on the occasion.
Guest Speakers Dushant Singh, Career Counseling Officer, DECC and Shabir Ahmed Manager Placement Cell BSE, highlighted the scope and opportunities in the self employment sector and schemes initiated by center and state government like Tejaswini, Mumkin, JKREGP, PMEGP etc.
Addressing the session, the Deputy Commissioner appreciated the office bearers of DECC and GCW for organizing such an informative and impressive career counseling session for the students.
The Deputy Commissioner said that students must come forward to avail maximum benefit from these schemes and adopt an innovative approach while looking for career options.
She impressed upon stakeholders to counsel and guide the students to take up skill oriented courses to enhance their employability.
In her address, the Principal GCW asked the students to register on the online portal of the Employment Department and informed that the portal has also been integrated with the NCS portal which has 1.92 lakh employers onboard.
Vote of thanks was presented by Prof Nisha Bhagat.
