Corruption breeds injustice
11/22/2022 10:30:35 PM
Recently, Special Judge Anti Corruption rejected the bail application of a tehsildar who was caught red-handed by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.
The Special Judge while rejecting the bail plea of the accused officer observed that the accused had shattered the trust of the society by taking the bribe.
The Judge reprimanded the accused for non-cooperation with the investigating agency and maintained that if the bail is granted to him it would hamper the investigations.
During the past few months the ACB has acted tough against the officers and officials, who were found involved in corrupt practices. Many have been arrested and booked.
The Special Judge Anti Corruption while rejecting the bail plea of the accused tehsildar minced no words to remind the officer that he has shattered the trust of the people and the government.
Officers and officials are the eyes and ears of the state and they have to ensure that they discharge their duties honestly.
“The corruption breeds inequality and injustice in the society and further widens the gap between the haves and have nots.
The corruption in public institutions shakes the people’s confidence and crumbles the social fabric of the society. Corruption is a cancer that steals from poor, eats away at governance and moral fibre and destroys trust” the Special Judge observed.
The observations of the learned Special Judge should serve as an eye opener for the people, who indulge in corrupt practices and stoop down to any level for wrongful monetary gains.
They should realize that they are the custodians of faith and trust and if they break it the system will become defunct and the anarchy will prevail.
After the abrogation of Article 370, the anti-graft agencies ion J&K have been empowered and provided with enough teeth to deal with the elements, who are out to malign the image of their departments.
The message is clear that black sheep won’t be tolerated and they will be dealt with sternly. The war against corruption in J&K has entered into its decisive phase and no one will be allowed to play with the system.
The ones who are breaching the trust are being indentified and punished.
