| Sidhu says BJP’s victory is empowerment of Jammu | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 21- Member Parliament and Bhartiya Janta Party leader Navjot Singh Siddhu has stressed on the people not to undermine the ensuing elections as they hold great significance for Jammu for bringing political empowerment to the region. Addressing a huge rally at Bakshinagar in Jammu West area, Navjot Singh Siddhu said that the key to government formation is held with Jammu only 'provided it exercises its franchise on nationalist factor voting BJP to power'. He also said that if the PDP with 16 seats can make into state assembly, then BJP that has secular and democratic credentials can return to the assembly with a Chief Minister of Jammu also. Siddhu took the occasion as an opportunity to take to task NC president's rhetoric on Amarnath land and said," I denounce the statement of Omar Abdullah who denied giving an inch of land to the Amarnath shrine and even challenge the Hurriyat and separatists leaders to come face to face with me for a discussion on the rights of the Jammuites, " said Navjot Singh and added that the separatism and discrimination has ruined the basic fabric of the Jammu. Siddhu's speech that was heavily loaded with verses on nationalism and patriotism drew unprecedented response from a sizable crowd gathered at the venue. The BJP leader minced no words while terming the erstwhile governments and parties like PDP, Congress and NC as anti-national parties and stressed upon the people here to vote for BJP for the return of clean and clear democracy. He also cited examples on terrorism where UPA had mentioned the saints and priests as terrorists and said, "UPA's terminology for saints as 'Hindu terrorists' has given a new dimension to Congress's ideology about the Hindus here whereas as BJP never had tried this misadventure quoting "Sikh terrorists or Muslim terrorists" when it was in the governance in the centre."
While laying his thrust on saving the identity of the region, Siddhu exhorted," Jammu needs to save its turban. If Jammu strengthens its position, it gives strength to the whole nation and to the BJP also".
The BJP national leader later touched all issues related to discrimination, inflation and poverty here while blaming the erstwhile governments for the miseries brought for the people of the region.
