Three ‘Delhi-based’ suspects picked up from a City Hotel

Jammu, Dec 21: Based intelligence inputs about presence of Pakistani militants in town to cause violence during elections, the Special Operation Group of Jammu police this evening arrested three suspects from a hotel in Bus Stand area.

A strong cordon was laid around hotel Samrat near Bus Stand when SOG sleuths three suspects staying in the hotel. The suspects, sources said, were staying in the hotel from last two days. The entry in the hotel record was in the name of one Akhilesh Kumar of House Number 504, Ramesh Park, New Delhi.

Eyewitnesses said that the SOG men, who came in civvies, raided the hotel and packed all the three youth in a gypsy. The trio was taken to an unknown destination.

Though the police was tight lipped over the arrests, sources said that the information was provided to the SOG by top police officials. Even the local police and concerned Superintendent of Police (SP) were not reportedly informed about the operation, sources said.

It was learnt that the room, from where the trio were arrested, was booked two days back. "The room was booked in the name of Aklesh Kumar, who was accompanied by three more persons", sources revealed.

Sources said that some girls had also visited the hotel room on Saturday. "The SOG men were keeping a close vigil on the hotel premises in civvies from early this morning", sources, preferring anonymity said, adding that the final raid was conduced this afternoon.

The SOG men cordoned off the entire hotel premises and searches were carried out for more than three hours. However, the names of the suspects and the details of the recovery, if any, could not be ascertained immediately.

Unconfirmed reports suggested that the trio were foreign nationals and were being interrogated by senior police officers at a Safe House of SOG.
