12/22/2008 9:10:00 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 22- Refuting the claim of certain vested interests that Congress has entered into understanding with PDP and the truth is that it is the National Conference which in fact has entered into a secret understanding with the BJP to share power in the state, said former minister B R Kundal, while addressing largely attended election rallies at R S Pura, Arinia, Bishnah and Bari Brahmana, organized in support of the party candidates today the last of campaigning.
He said as the National Conference has sensed a defeat in the assembly elections now they are going to any extent to defame Congress. The fact is that while the National Conference, according to the understanding, would hold the office of the Chief Minister, the BJP that of the Deputy Chief Minister, he said and added that both the parties are ‘day dreaming’ and asserted that Congress is all set to form the government in the state on its own.
While reacting to the NC’s accusations, Congress leader said that NC leaders are actually saying things out of frustration and the fact remains that NC remained a coalition of BJP during the NDA rule at the Centre and wanted to continue alliance in the state assembly this time also, he added.
Kundal appealed the voters not to be misled by this false propaganda and exercise their franchise judiciously so that a stable and people- centric government is formed in the state.
Former MP and political advisor to former Chief Minister, Janak Raj Gupta, who also addressed these gatherings, urged the people to reject all those parties which, instead of raking up democratic and economic issues, have been indulging in negative campaigning to mislead the people. He said people should return to the assembly the Congress candidates whose agenda is not only state-centric but public-oriented. ‘Jammu and Kashmir needs stable government and only the Congress can do so’, he claimed.
Referring to the NC’s criticism, he said that NC has got frustrated due to the growing popularity and the massive people’s support to the Congress party adding that NC has almost accepted its defeat and were now blurting out things out of sheer frustration.
Debunking the claim of BJP that it would form the government in the state, Prof Hari Om said that those, who have repeatedly betrayed the people of Jammu in and outside the assembly and are raking up religious issues, have no right to seek the people’s mandate.
He, however, appreciated Gujrat Chief Minister for his bold admission that BJP led NDA government was responsible for harming the interests of the people of Jammu by joining
hands with National Conference government which amended the Jammu and Kashmir Representation of Peoples’ Act and banned the delimitation of assembly constituencies till 2026.
He appealed the people to consider the BJP’s guilt while exercising their right to vote and vote for Congress which is seeking mandate on the basis of its performance
