JAMMU, Nov 26: Kavinder Gupta, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Dy Chief Minister has advised the people that while enjoying the rights guaranteed to them by the constitution they must not forget their duties towards the nation.
He stated this during a function held here today to celebrate the 'Samvidhan Diwas' (Constitution Day). It is pertinent to mention here that this day is celebrated to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India which was adopted on 26th November 1949 by the Constituent Assembly of India. Prominent among others present during the function organized by the BJP were Dr Davinder Manyal Ex Minister and BJP Gen Secy, Prof Garu Ram DDC member and president party's SC Morcha, Neelam Langeh Ex MLA', Vidhya Mitran DDC member, Rakesh Sangral, Mahinder Bhagat, Subhash Chander and Umesh Kumar.
While addressing the august gathering, the former Dy Chief Minister said that today is the most appropriate day to pay glorious tributes to the architect of our Constitution Dr B.R Ambedkar who headed the team that drafted the Constitution that takes utmost care of the multicultural and diverse society of this nation. He said that Baba Sahib will remain a source of inspiration for all of us for centuries and India can never forget his great contributions. He asserted that Baba Sahib, was the chief architect of the Constitution of India, which is the best among the world. Baba Sahib also contributed in the freedom of India as a leading lawyer, whenever he aborted the evil designs of the British, Kavinder said.
The former Dy CM said that it is the Constitution that has given precious rights to the people of the world's largest democracy. It further guarantees and ensures that these rights of the citizens are not violated by anybody. However, while enjoying these rights we must realize and focus equally on our duties especially the duties towards the nation. People must play proactive role for augmenting the efforts of the Govt in nation building i.e. a happy, healthy and prosperous nation where peace thrives and people's welfare is the government's topmost priority.
Kavinder Gupta said that the BJP Govt at the Centre led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made serious as well as sincere efforts to ensure that the values and principles embedded in this sacred document called Constitution are followed in letter and spirit. He said that working in this direction Govt has tried to raise the standard of living of the common people across the nation be it health, livelihood and education besides security of the nation and stature of the largest democracy to new heights at the global level.
Meanwhile tributes were also paid to the martyrs of 26/11 Mumbai attack during the function.
