| Tyabji chairs CC meet | | Nayeem suggests expansion of cable cars | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, DECEMBER 23– The 26th Board of Directors Meeting of J&K Cable Car Corporation was held here this evening under the chairmanship of Advisor to Governor, Mr. H. H. Tyabji. Secretary Tourism Nayeem Akhter, Secretary Planning, Director Tourism, Jammu/Kashmir, MD J&K, CCC, besides other officers attended the meeting. Giving details of the activities undertaken, the MD of the corporation said that various steps have been taken to make the corporation a viable and income generating project of the state. He said that Gulmarg Gandola project an exemplary profit yielding project, needs more capacity building to attract the attention of tourists both from inside and abroad. Nayeem Akhter, Secretary Tourism, while addressing suggested the management to take up project specific works for further expansion of the corporation especially for Gulmarg Gandola project. He referred the media reports which suggested for further expansion of the project and favoured specific investment in the project to make it one of the biggest projects in the country. He assured that the repair of spare parts of the project would be completed by 31st of March, 2009. Tyabji in his address said that the management of corporation should periodically brief the government about various steps required for the expansion of the project. About the construction of grip chairlifts at Kangdori and Aishmuqam, the Advisor said that both the sights are tourist attractive spots world over and need to be developed to the best of the state purposes and directed the management to take up the works on priority basis. The Board also proposed that whatever works are going on in Gulmarg Gandola project should be strictly related with the project and the construction of huts should be only for need basis.
