| Daylong “Rath Yatra” to mark Dewarika Nath Shastriji’s birthday | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, DEC 24: The 49th birth anniversary of renowned saint Dewarika Nath Shastriji Maharaj is being celebrated at his Holy Samadhi Sathal, located near Nikki Tawi in Sohanjana village (about 14 km from Satwari) with great religious fervour, zeal and enthusiasm followed by mega programmes including Akhand Hari Naam Sankirtan, which has already started from December 19 and shall continue till December 27. Besides, other mega spiritual and cultural events are also being held.
As per the programme, on December 24, Satsang was performed by eminent saints from Varindaban and Shri Ganga Dharji.
On December 25, after the Holy Shree Paduka Pujan by Shri Ganga Dharji and devotees, and a grand Havana followed by Maha Arti, Rath Yatra shall start at 9 am from the Holy Samadhi Sathal of Shastriji Maharaj. The Rath Yatra will pass through surrounding villages of Nikki Tawi (Tawi Islands), which shall include exhibition of Divya Jhanki of Maharaj Shree amidst chanting of religious Sankirtan, fabulous Horse Dance, Gatka (Warriors’ action-play) and Sankirtan by the respective village Sankirtan Manadlies from Punjab and Jammu. The Yatra shall culminate at 3 pm at the Holy Samadhi Sathal itself, where after religious discourses shall be delivered by the saints from Northern Indian states specially invited on the occasion. A composite music program comprising Sufiana ghazals and bhajans shall be performed throughout the night by eminent singers from within and outside the state.
On December 26, Satsang as usual shall be performed and discourses/ sermons highlighting the impact of Holy Shrimad Bhagwat Purana as delivered by Shastriji Maharaj, shall also be there. A community langar shall remain operational during all the four days of the program. The devotees have already started arriving at the Holy Samadhi Sathal for paying their obeisance.
It is pertinent to mention here that Shastriji along with Sati Maa Champaji entered into Holy Agni Samadhi after finishing their holy task on April 26, 1992 at Tawi Islands adjoining village Sohanjana in short span of 32 years of his life. Later, one of their disciples, Shri Rashpal Kumar also took Samadhi at the same place on the same day.
Devotees are appealed to help the management in successful conduct of the whole programme and bring warm clothes, blankets etc along with them for their safe participation in the birthday celebrations
