Kashmir valley continues to shiver, Pahalgam coldest at -5.6 Deg C

SRINAGAR, Dec 15: Kashmir valley continues to shiver with tourist hot spot of Pahalgam remaining the coldest place recording a low of minus 5.6 degree Celsius on Thursday.
The Meteorological Centre forecast of mainly clear to partly cloudy and dry weather is expected till December 22. There is no significant weather system till December 25.
The minimum temperature showed a further dip in the tourist resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir to minus 5.6 degree Celsius on Thursday against the minus 5.3 degree Celsius recorded the previous night. It was minus 1.8 degree Celsius below normal for the valley of shepherds during this time of the season.
Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, which witnessed season's coldest night with temperature plummeting to minus 3.4 degree Celsius on Wednesday showed an improvement of a few notches, recorded at minus 3.2 degree Celsius on Thursday.
The minimum temperature also showed an improvement at ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir on Thursday, which had a low of minus 3.0 degree Celsius on Thursday against the minus 4.2 degree Celsius recorded a day ago.
Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu national highway recorded a low of minus 3.6 degree Celsius, Kukernag minus 1.3 degree Celsius and the frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara had a low of minus 3.2 degree Celsius on Wednesday, the MeT office said.
