| Times Foundation launches project in Poonch | | | Early Times Report
MENDHAR/POONCH: The J&K government and the Times Foundation formally entered into a public private partnership for a school project in Poonch
district with M S Khan, secretary, rural development, laying the foundation stone on December 22, 2008.
Speaking on the occasion, M S Khan said the project is unique as the state and the Times Foundation decided to build a school in a far flung area to provide laboratory blocks to the school. The success of this project will open gates for other similar partnerships. Times Foundations financial support to this project holds the key to the project's success.
With the objective of providing long term relief and rehabilitation to the people of J&K who suffered from devastating earthquake in 2005, the Times Foundation decided to collaborate with J&K government to construct laboratory blocks in Boys High Secondary school, Mendhar, which falls in the earthquake affected area.
Elaborating on the project, chief functionary of the Times Foundation, Pooran C Pandey said that this is a project of its own kind as coming together of the state government and Times Foundation marks beginning of the first ever public private partnership in the state of J&K and this relationship will motivate other corporate and philanthropic agencies to contribute their social responsibility in the state which needs educational infrastructure for faster growth and development. Upon completion, the project will be handed over to the government.
