| IAS officers blamed for neglect of Urdu | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 25- ‘Describing the non-state subject IAS officers as the real enemies of the official Urdu language in Jammu and Kashmir’, Rasa Javedani Memorial Literary Society has urged upon the state government to grant same status to Urdu language as is being granted to Punjabi language in Punjab. In a statement issued here today, President Rasa Javedani Memorial Literary Society Professor Shohab Inayat Malik said that Punjab government has granted official status to Punjabi language and every official work is being done in the Punjabi language. "Recently Punjab chief minister retuned some files to those departments which were not written in Punjabi Language, but on other hand Urdu in Jammu and Kashmir, which is not only the official language but is also Constitutional language, has not been given uts due status, he said adding that by giving it bad treatment state government is violating its constitution itself. Prof. Shohab said that recently General Administration Department (GAD) issued a circular where all government departments were directed to display sign boards in Urdu but till date this circular has not been implemented. Professor Shohab further criticized all those IAS officers who had been imported in Jammu and Kashmir for giving raw deal to this official language. "The IAS officers from outside the state are the real enemies of the official language of the state," added Prof. Shohab.
