| Rajouri students debate ‘women in politics’ | | | Early Times Report RAJOURI, DEC 25: District Information Centre, Rajouri organized a debate competition in the premises of Himalayan Degree College, Rajouri on the topic “Reservation for Women in Politics”. About twelve students of the college participated in the competition and presented their views whereby most of them were in the favour of reservation for women in Parliament as well as state assemblies but few of them also opposed it. Miss Sania Malik was adjudged as best speaker by the judges, whereas Mr. Rohit Kesar and Mr. Shahnawaj Lone shared 2nd Prize. 3rd prize was shared by Mr. Virender and Miss Najma Kesar. Winners were given away prizes and all participants were given consolation prizes. Later, a Scintillating cultural programme was presented by the troops of information department and local artists, which enthralled the audience for about two hours and was highly appreciated. Principal of the college, Dr. Abdul Mabood was the guest on the occasion whereas Secretary of Himalayan Education Mission Society presented the vote of thanks. He appreciated the role of District Information Centre in organizing such events in the region which provide a common platform for the students to share their views on various contemporary issues. Speaking on the occasion, District Information Officer, Mr. Pritam Lal Thapa appreciated the students and local artists for their over whelming participation in making the event successful.
