DC Jammu chairs District Road Safety Committee meeting

JAMMU, Dec 22: Deputy Commissioner Jammu Avny Lavasa today chaired a meeting of District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) here at DC office complex to discuss formulation of Action Plan for enforcement Road Safety measures, decongestion of City and ensure smooth traffic flow in the district.
The meeting held threadbare deliberations with regard to management of Traffic, including identification of black spots, removal of road side objects that distract drivers, creating awareness about road safety rules through print and electronic media, improvement of lighting on vital roads, better functioning of Intelligent Traffic Management System, provision of Critical Care Ambulances, regular health/eye checkups of drivers and conductors etc.
The DC stressed upon all the stakeholder departments to be proactive in formulating a comprehensive Road Safety Action Plan on priority basis. She stressed on the concerned officers to take all required measures to decongest the City roads for smooth flow of traffic.
The DC further instructed to remove roadside objects that hinder smooth traffic or distract drivers while driving.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the concerned departments to spread mass awareness about traffic rules and regulations through print and electronic media.
She also stressed on repairing black spots, initiating remedial measures, installation of signages and painting of roads at appropriate spots and installation of High Security Number Plates by owners of vehicles.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed the concerned departments to ensure that school buses and other vehicles engaged in transportation of children must comply with the traffic rules.
She instructed the officers that no vehicle be allowed to ply without High Security Registration Plate (HSRP), PUC, Fitness, Insurance and other documents. She also asked them to take strict action against the violators.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all the members to make coordinated efforts to ensure safety on roads and prompt emergency care.
ADC(ADM), Sandeep Seonetra; DEPO, Devinder Singh Manhas; Addl. SP Traffic, RP Singh besides officers of the concerned departments were present in the meeting.
