Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 22: Lauding the contribution and efforts of youngsters in the fields of art, music and culture in promoting Dogri, J&K BJP State President Ravinder Raina said preserving the language is imperative for upholding the identity of the Duggar land and Dogras.
"The role of the people, in general, becomes equally important in achieving this objective in terms of speaking Dogri, which many of us shy away in our daily lives and while interacting with children in homes," Raina said while honouring the young artists on the occasion of Dogri Manta Diwas in a function held here today. On the occasion, Mayor JMC Rajinder Sharma, Former Dy CM J&K Kavinder Gupta, Padmashri award recipients Dr Jitendra Udhampuri, Balwant Thakur and State President BJYM Arun Prabhat were present.
Ravinder Raina has urged the people of Jammu to encourage the young artists from various fields in order to keep the rich Dogra heritage alive in all times to come. He maintained that it is the young generation artists on whose shoulders lies the responsibility of preserving the rich Dogra heritage for the progeny. Therefore it becomes our duty to keep encouraging them so that they vigorously pursue the mission with utmost enthusiasm, he added.
Mayor JMC Rajinder Sharma, in his address, said the young generation, who are conscious keepers of the Dogra heritage, must also play their crucial role in promoting and propagating Dogri. He exuded confidence that harmony and reconciliation can be achieved as a result of the reclamation of the Dogri language. He said the Hindus, the Muslims, the Sikhs and the Christians are proud inheritors of the Dogra heritage and a collective effort is needed to make Dogri a day to day language. Besides, Dogri needs to be promoted by organizing cultural events and literary festivals.
The former minister said that it was Atal Behari Vajpayee who facilitated the entry of Dogri language in the eighth schedule of the Constitution of India for which full credit goes to him and the party. He asserted that Bharatiya Janata Party will leave no stone unturned in preserving Jammu's identity i.e. Dogra culture and heritage.
Speaking on the occasion, Former DyCM Kavinder Gupta said that the Dogra cultural heritage is the identity of the people of Jammu and we cannot afford to lose our identity. He appreciated the efforts of the felicitated artists for keeping the Dogra culture alive through their relentless performances at UT, National and International level.
State President BJYM Arun Prabhat, while addressing the function, thanked the BJP State President and other senior party leaders for gracing the function with their august presence and assured them that BJYM being the youth wing of the party will continue to encourage the young artists in future too so that they achieve success in the endeavour to keep the rich Dogra culture and heritage alive.
Among others who were present Ex MLA Dr Krishan Lal, District President Rekha Mahajan, Secretary BJP Vikas Choudhar.
