| KPs are not nomadic Gujjars: APMCC | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 26- Lambasting Jammu and Kashmir government for allegedly grounding the proposal accepted by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh for the permanent settlement of displaced Kashmir Pandits by setting up permanent townships in valley, All Party Migrant Coordination Committee (APMCC) chairman Vinod Pandit today rejected the temporary settlement of KPs in transit camps in valley. "The state government is non serious. They want to take displaced KPs after 20 years to valley and put them in transit camps temporarily like army transit camps. It is an insult to KPs", Pandit said here in a handout. KPs need permanent settlement and not transit camps, in which hundreds of security force personnel are put in, he said adding that Government has even grounded the proposal of Kashmir Pandit delegation presented to PM at Jagati, where PM had laid foundation stone of township for KPs in Jammu on July 15, 2007. Prime Minister had then promised KPs that they would be settled permanently in townships, which would be set up for them in valley and would be taken back with honour and dignity, he said. KPs are not nomadic Gujjars, who will be shifted from Udhampur camps to Jammu camp to Muthi township to Jagati and then transit camp in Kashmir he said adding that KPs want permanent rehabilitation in valley with political and socio-economic packages. APMCC also demands CBI probe into the Jagati township contract and role of the Relief Commissioner in it. "One company Maytas has subleted 95 percent of work to dozens of minor contractors in Jagati. But this point is being negated by Relief commissioner Vinood Koul", he said.
