| City Centre scam: Case against CM Amarinder Singh lodged | | | Ludhiana, Sept 16: Police has filed charges and registered a case against Chief Minister Amarinder Singh in connection with the City Centre scam, which involves the Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT).
Allegations surfaced on Sept 11 that Today Home Infrastructure sold or leased nearly 40 per cent space in the 26-acre project, which it is building in a joint venture with the Ludhiana Improvement Trust. It also underquoted prices for spaces that it sold or leased out at the mega-project.
Shiromani Akali Dal has demanded Chief Minister’s resignation over the issue. The project, estimated to cost Rs 2,000 crore, is the country’s largest such project, and is the fourth largest in Asia. Officially launched this February, it has been designed by a Singapore-based architect.
