| Departmental elocution contest | | Shreya Jain of Women’s College Parade won first prize | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, DEC 26: Shreya Jain of Govt women college parade was adjudged as best speaker in International collegiate, departmental elocution contest conducted by the department of students welfare University of Jammu here today. Zain-Ul-Abdeen-Banday from Govt MAM College, Morning and Garvita Khajuria from Mahant Bachittar Singh College of Engineering and Technology, bagged sceong an third prize respectively. Certificates of merit were awarded to Roopali Mahajan from Govt Women College, Gandhi Nagar and Henna Jain from Govt College of Engineering and Technology. The topic of the contest was “Which is more rewarding for Idealsitic Indian Society? Gandhiji’s economy of permanence or the current concept of globalization? How?” Each participant was given a maximum time of twelve minutes to express the views in English or Hindi. Prof. Ved Ghai,, Prof. Deepsheekha Kotwal and Jagidsh Chander were amongst the adjudicators, while Dr. Vishwaraksha, was the teacher in-charge of the said even, an the event was coordinated by Vijay Atri. Expressing their views the students aid that following a complete Swadeshi Model or a complete globalized economy would be detrimental. We need to strike a balance between Ganhiji’s Economy of permanence and the current concept to globalization. We are globalized and at the same time we have some import restrictions. We have also incorporated the Crux of economy of the permanence in the form o f the sustainable economic development. Today we need a modern interpretation of economy of permanence and its incorporation in our globalized economy. We need to blend the postivities of both the theories and make our Indian economy and Indian society the strongest in the world.
