| BSNL informs Governor about exchange in Gurez | | | Early Times Report JAMMU DEC 27: Bharat Sanchar Nagam Limited (BSNL) is taking necessary action to upgrade and expand the 2MB Intelligent Dispute Resolution (IDR) Exchange at the Tehsil Headquarter of Gurez to 8 MB IDR during the current financial year. Intimating this to Governor, Mr N N Vohra, the Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Mr A Raja, has stated that with this another 90 channels would become available for expansion of Network in the Area. Raja, in a communication to the Governor, who had taken up this issue with the Union Minister after his visit to Gurez in October, has stated that the additional available channels would be used for expansion of the landline and also to provide additional traffic channels to reduce congestion and to make operational Mobile, Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) and DoT Soft nodes for the public convenience. Mr Raja has informed that the mobile and CDMA services are scheduled to be made functional in the area during the financial year 2008-09. The people of Gurez had complained to the Governor, during his visit to the area in October this year, about the poor telephone service in the Tehsil. Consequently, Mr Vohra had taken up this matter with the Union Minister.
