| Academy organizes State level Gojri poetry festival | | | EarlY Times Report Jammu, Dec 27- A State Level Gojri Poetry festival jointly organized by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and North Zone Cultural Centre Patiala was held here at K.L Saigal Hall here today. The event was organized in connection with four day long Jashn-e-Shairi. Prominent Gojri writer Choudhary G R Bhadana presided over the function while Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, Secretary Academy was in presidium. In his welcome address, Javaid Rahi, head of Gojri wing and Editor-cum-Cultural Officer stated that this year the State Academy is going to publish twenty new books in Gojri adding that the prestigious Concise Gojri Dictionary will see the light of the day during next month. He said we are working on the project of translation where under 50 world classics has been chosen for translation into Gojri from Sanskrit, Arabic, Persian and English. This translation project would be completed before 2012. Secretary Academy in his address said that Academy has been working for the development of nine languages of the State and Gojri is one of the important languages of both the regions of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that Academy has played a major role in preservation of this tribal language and in future we are working on number of projects in Gojri including Gojri Encyclopedia Project adding that today's program is a step forward in this direction and many more programs have been devised for near future as well, so as to revive cultural activities in Gojri in the state in right perspectives. Badhana in his presidential address said that being an oldest and significant languages of the state, Gojri deserve healthier dealing from government side. He said that Gojri should be included in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution. He impressed upon the Gojri writers to work firmly in this direction. Those who recited their poems included Amin Banihali, Anwar Chowdhary, Anwar Hussain, G R Asghar, Rehmat-Ullah, Shamima Akther, Hussan Parwaz, Jahanger Asghar, Mushtaq Husaain, Barkat Bagri, Bagh Ali Tahir, Rasheed Shabnum, Jalal Din Fani, Idress Shad, Ashaiq Hussain and Saber Nadeem.
