DFCO encompasses milk vendors, dairymen for Consumer Safety

JAMMU, Jan 4: Milk market is very much enshrined with new Act of FSS and stringent set guidelines in order to ensure the best qaulity and Safety of better Milk and its products for the Consumers many of whom are elders,infants and Children.
Emphasizing over the compliances of the directions of the Commissioner FDA J&K, today the team of Enforcement Officers of Food Safety DFCO Jammu District carried out an extensive drive with wide and large range of Naka at brigde no.4 of Balecharana today early morning and inspected at the Milk vendors, transporters, dairy men and while this carrying out this extensive process the team collected 06 Enforcement Samples randomly for analysis under the Act .Besides,the team did make deployment of MFTV van and got 25 samples tested on the spot out which 05 samples did come of not Conforming to the standards. During this compaign the Milk Bussiness Operators were imparted with awareness to maintain the qaulity of the Milk and be carefull about Hygienic practices. All the vendors were loudly made aware that from tomorrow onwards each and every vendor will display the statements on the containers or carriers with capital letters whether it is
Cows Milk or Buffaloes Milk so that Consumer will make the choice and categorization will come into force for the welfare of the public in General.
As a matter of fact,in our country most of the population is vegetarian and milk is very important source of Nutrition having important source of calicum and protein.The adulterated Milk and its products and more importantly false claiming led the FSSAI regulations in the market where FSSAI defines Milk as normal mammary Milk which should be free from colostrum. Milk which is adjusted for Milk fat or Milk SNF or both the contents with min.and max.limts of fats and SNF as per standards.Hence Buffaloes Milk min.6.0 fats 9.0 SNF% ,cows Milk has 3.2 fats & 8.3 SNF % age.
Milk adulteration is an important issue is being vigorously addressed by the Food Safety wings under the directions of Commissionerate FDA j&k under the Aegis of FSSAI and Govt involvement at the top most priority .
Adultrants of Milk are water,starch,Glucose/invert sugar,and rarely Urea some testes can be done at home , for analysis of other adulterants sophisticated MFTV vans on wheels are being deployed with proper instrumentations for on the spot testings and for more findings and Evualations samples are sent to Food Testing labs.
The Food SafetDepartment is tackling the issue in holistic approach by conducting various drives and awareness programs.
The slogan of Food Safety DFCO is "As our body is our most possession enrich it with pure Milk, Stay healthy and Stay Happy."
