BJP not only ended constitution of J&K but also finished constitution of India: Mehbooba
1/7/2023 11:01:07 PM
Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Jan 7: Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday lashed out at Bharatiya Janata Party claiming the way they scrapped J&K's special status, it would similarly "end the constitution of the country and replace Tiranga' with 'Bhagwa'.
She was speaking at the seventh death anniversary of her father and PDP founder Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. Scores of workers and leaders from the PDP had gathered at the Dara Shikoh garden in Bijbehara where Mufti Sayeed, is buried.
The former chief minister Mehooba Mufti said her father believed in the idea of India and the secularism that was the foundation of the country.
But bad that the present party not only they have ended the constitution of J&K but also have also bulldozed the constitution of India. They not only ended J&K (Article) 370, but also ended the constitution of this country,” she said, adding Jammu and Kashmir had acceded to the India of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Abul Kalam Azad, and not to the India of Nathuram Godse.
Mufti said all the institutions of the country have been destroyed by the present regime.
Referring to the Chief Justice's comments, Mufti said now a days the courts are reluctant to grant bail to the innocents over fears of being targeted .
“There was a time when the court ruled against the then prime minister Indira Gandhi,” she said.
Mufti said Jammu and Kashmir has been turned into an army cantonment.
“We have no problem with the army, but you (BJP) have been claiming that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir has improved, then send these forces back to barracks. And instead you are doing the opposite and giving arms to the people? What kind India do you want to make,” she asked.
Mufti said her father would have been heartbroken after seeing the present situation.
She asked the workers not to lose heart due to the present situation.
“Mufti Saheb was always confident and believed that no matter how powerful a country is, it cannot win the war against its people. If it would have been so America would not have left Vietnam and Bangladesh would have not separated”. That is why we want to tell our people of the country that BJP which has ended our constitution will similarly end the constitution of the country and replace Tiranga' with 'Bhagwa' (saffron flag),? she said.
