Srinagar,September 16:-The Political Affair Committee of the PDP will meet in the state’s summer capital on September 21 to discuss whether it was advisable for the party’s patron,Mufti Mohd.Sayeed to visit New York for meeting the UN members. The meeting has been convened to discuss, threadbare, the document on self-rule.
The PDP General Secretary,Mr Nizamuddin Bhat told Kashmir Independent Press on Saturday that the
committee is scheduled to discuss party and political affairs besides the damage caused by the recent floods. As far as the discussion on the political affairs was concerned the main focus will be on the self-rule document. He said Mufti Mohd.Sayeed will preside over the meeting.
The committee comprises high profile leaders of the party including MsMehboobaMufti, Muzaffar Hussain
Baig,a former Deputy Chief Minister,Mr Ghulam HassanMir,a former Minister,Mr Tariq Hamid Qarra,Urban
Development Minister,Molvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari and six other
senior senior leaders.Two PDP ministers,Mr
Dilawar Mir and Qazi Mohd.Afzal are special invitees.
According to the party General secretary,MrNizanuddin Bhat, the committee will discuss party and
political affairs besides the ravage caused by the recent floods.
Mr Bhat said that while discussing the political affairs the committee members
will be apprised of the document on self-rule in order to secure the opinion and suggestions of the members.
He said that Mr Muzaffar Hussain Baig was engaged in giving final touches to the document and he has
suggested that the committee should discuss whether it was advisable for Mufti Mohd.Sayeed to visit New York
for submitting the document on self-rule among the members on the sidelines of the UN Assembly session.
Mr Bhat said that Mr Baig had made it clear that some people had hatched a conspiracy for "breaking
the PDP" and warned his baiters that he was not a saleable commodity thereby setting at rest the
speculation that the Muftis were yet to repose trust
in the former Minister. The
PDP leader said,in reply to a question,that "I
do not think the congress leaders should oppose Mufti Sayeed's visit to New York when the Government had
given permission even to separatist leader to fly to the US."
He said the ruling coalition believed in democracy and debate and if "we favour self-rule we have every
right to propose a solution to the Kashmir issue."He said the PDP leadership was not supporting the
National Conference demand for the restoration of greater autonomy.
