Awareness on Mission Life held at GGM Science College

JAMMU, Jan 11: NSS GGM Science College organized an awareness program Mission Life under the guidance of worthy Principal Dr. Rajesh Gupta and supervision of NSS PO Dr. Deepali Mahajan. Mission LIFE was launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The mantra of Mission Life is 'Lifestyle For Environment'. Emphasizing the benefits of Mission Life, the Prime Minister said that it connects the powers of the people for the protection of this earth, and teaches them to utilise it in a better way. He underlined that Mission Life makes the fight against climate change democratic, in which everyone can contribute within their capacity. "Mission Life inspires us to do all that can be done in our everyday life to protect the environment. Mission Life believes that the environment can be protected by making changes in our lifestyle", the Prime Minister said. The Principal Dr. Rajesh Gupta appreciated the efforts of volunteers and adopting nature as lifestyle. Dr. Arti Sharma, Resource Person and judge was the guest of todays event highlighted the simple things one can do to help protect the earth: reduce, reuse and recycle; conserving resources, choosing sustainaibilty, plant a tree. NSS PO emphasissed the role of volunteers in swatchta, educating the masses bringing awareness. NSS volunteers participated in group discussion, made posters, wrote slogans and spoke on the topics Air pollution & Awareness and Renewable energy for students. From smog hanging over cities to smoke inside the home, air pollution poses a major threat to health and climate. Ambient air pollution in both cities and rural areas is causing fine particulate matter which result in strokes, heart diseases, lung cancer, acute and chronic respiratory diseases. Renewable energy is energy derived from natural sources that are replenished at a higher rate than they are consumed. Sunlight and wind, for example, are such sources that are constantly being replenished. Renewable energy sources are plentiful and all around us. Aakriti Sharma stood first in speech competition; Tina and Iesha Bhat got first and second rank in slogan writing; Shanaz Aslam stood first, Zeenat second and Aakriti Sharma stood third in poster competition.
