NC-Congress alliance can prove dangerous: Gupta
BJP to provide political strengthen to nationalism
12/30/2008 12:06:56 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Dec 29: Senior BJP leader and newly elected member to the state Assembly, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has said that the rise of the strength of their party from one member in the last Assembly to eleven now would certainly provide political strength to the forces of nationalism enshrined in the BJP agenda.
Reiterating his pledge to strive for democratic human rights to al the people in Jammu and Kashmir, by demolishing the barriers between Jammu and Kashmir and rest of the country, he said that the proposed alliance between the Congress and the National Conference can prove dangerous again as the gang up of these two formations in eighties had proved devastating and given birth to armed militancy which has cost heavily not only to the people of Jammu and Kashmir but also to the entire country, he added.
Addressing the massive ‘Vijay Rally’ in Jammu West Assembly Constituency, where he had defeated over two dozen adversaries including the former Deputy Chief Minister of the Congress by a big margin, Prof Gupta cautioned the nationalists to keep close watch on the developments taking place in the State.
Thanking the electorate for demonstrating their faith in the ideology of the BJ, he said that the tasks ahead are quite challenging. ‘Under the separate status of Jammu and Kashmir the democratic rights of the people have not only been curtailed but in certain cases even the basic human rights have been denied under communal considerations’, he said and added that the refugees from Pakistan and the migrants from PoK as also from the Valley and other parts of the State are witness to this communalism perpetrated during the past so many years.
Referring to disproportionate creation of the Assembly constituencies under communal and regional bias, coupled with the mysterious embargo for having no Delimitation of Constituencies till 2026, he felt the need for a sustained struggle within and outside the legislature to undo this injustice.
Strongly objecting to the reports suggesting Omar Abdullah as next Chief Minister of the Congress-National Conference coalition, Prof. Gupta said that it appeared that both these dynastic parties are out to damage the democratic fabric and belittling the growth of democratic values.
He recalled that both the Congress and National Conference had been assailing the rule of Maharajas for being dynastic but now both of these organizations are perpetrating worst form of dynastic rule under the garb of democracy.
Earlier, a big procession was taken out in various parts of the city and Prof. Gupta was profusely garlanded by the admirers of the BJP enroute the procession.
