J&K Police rescues 34 tourists, shifts pregnant woman to hospital in Budgam amid snowfall

SRINAGAR, Jan 12: Police in central Kashmir's Budgam district have rescued 34 tourists who were stuck in between Rayar and Yarikhah Doodpathri Road due to snowfall, a police statement said on Thursday. Police also rendered a helping hand to a pregnant lady who was stranded at Shenni Pora area of Khansahib amid snowfall and shifted her to hospital safely.
Police Station Khansahib received a distressed call that some tourists were stuck at Rayar while travelling in their vehicles due to sudden snowfall. Accordingly, the police party facilitated 34 tourists up to Yarikhah and provided them necessary assistance, the statement added.
Meanwhile, Police station Khansahib received a distress call that one lady from Shenni Pora area of Khansahib had developed labour issues and needed to be shifted to Sub District Hospital Khansahib immediately amid snowfall and slippery road conditions they were not able to carry the patient to hospital. Accordingly, a police team was deputed and the lady was brought to SDH hospital Khansahib safely. Meanwhile, locals as well as tourists expressed their gratitude towards the police for timely assistance, the statement added.
