IGNOU reaches out to students, NCC, NSS volunteers at GCW Parade

JAMMU, Jan 13: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Regional Centre Jammu today reached out to Govt. College for Women, Parade Ground Jammu. A team of officers of the Regional Centre comprising of the Regional Director I/C, Dr. Sandeep Gupta and Assistant Regional Directors, Dr. Vikram Singh and Dr. Asha Upadhyay visited the College and had an interaction with NCC/NSS volunteers and students of the Institution.
Regional Centre Jammu has a Learner Support Centre operating from the GCW, Parade Ground, Jammu by the Centre Code 12123. Dr. Mohd. Majeed, Coordinator of the LSC, Dr. Rajesh Kant, Dean Students Welfare, Govt. College for Women, Parade and other staff members were also present on the occasion.
The team of IGNOU explained about various schemes and initiatives of the University and also informed about the new range of programmes launched in different streams. It was apprised that IGNOU is providing fee exemption for Schedule Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates for several programmes offered through Common Prospectus.
The IGNOU team members informed that the University offers admission to various UG, PG, Certificate, Diploma, PG Diploma and Doctoral level programmes in distance learning and online education mode. IGNOU offers multiple courses such as BSW, MBA, MCA, BCA, MA English and Masters in Rural Development in online mode. As per the new UGC guidelines, candidates can now study two online or offline programmes at the same time.
The students and volunteers expressed their desire to seek admission in different programmes in IGNOU through the distance mode alongside their UG programme through the conventional mode which will be beneficial for them for their future prospects and will not hinder their regular studies. The final year students expressed their willingness to join the Master Degree programmes after their final year results are declared.
