ARTO issues notices to 24 busses for cancellation of Fitness certificate

Samba, Jan 15: Cracking the whip on erring passenger buses Team MVD samba issued notices for cancellation of fitness certificate of passenger buses, who have tampered their Speed limiting devices and set speed limit of 120 KMPH instaed of allowed 60 KMPH.The drive is launched by ARTO Samba and MVI Vikas Srivats Under the supervision of RTO Jammu Pankaj Mangotra under overall guidance of Transport Commissioner J&K Rahul Sharma.
Sharing details ARTO Samba, Rehana Tabassam said that during today's drive major focus was on Buses with built-up Speed Limiting. Devices which were checked electronically (OBD) with the help of TATA software in collaboration with M/S Jamkash Vehealeads Vijaypur and 24 buses were found either without SLD or with tempered inbuilt SLD ranging from 90KMPH to 120 KMPH instead of a fixed limit of 60 KMPH. She further added During the drive as many as 140 vehicles were checked out of which 70 vehicles were Challaned/Compounded against various violations.The detail of violations is as under:

A fine to the tune of Rs. 1 lacs was realised from violators on spot.
In view of the increasing fatal road accidents in the State, the Transport Commissioner Jand K UT has issued strict instructions to monitor speed of the passenger vehicles and directed for taking strict action like cancellation of fitness certificates of erring buses drivers who have done tampering with the speed governors.
