MVD organises medical / awareness camp for drivers, conductors on Road Safety week

UDHAMPUR, Jan 17: Motor vehicle department Udhampur organised a medical check up/ awareness camp for drivers/ conductors with an initiative to promote healthy living for driver partners who are constantly on the move and need to monitor their health at regular intervals. The camp was organised by the support and participation of Health department where a dedicated team of doctors conducted onspot medical examination of number of drivers who were also provided counselling and literature on good health.
Medical check up including sugar,Blood pressure and eye testing was conducted for more than 200 drivers and conductors. Similar camps were organised in Ramnagar and Chennani areas also. However apart from this drivers were also made aware of monitoring of fatique level as fatique causes various effects on wheel including slower reaction time, decreased concentration, altered judgement, memory lapses, increased risk of drowsiness or falling asleep which can lead to accidents on road.The drivers were made to realise the signs of fatique and to take rest after long driving to avoid fatique and accidents.
ARTO Udhampur Jugal Kishore Sharma appealed the drivers to remain healthy and cautious and ensure routine medical examination for healthy life. He stressed that healthy driver is the key for safe driving.
