| Agitators block R S Pura road | | Sought release of 75 yrs old man | |
Jammu, Sep 16 : Large number of people today staged a protest demonstration and blocked Jammu-RS Pura road over the arrest of a seventy five year old man allegedly on some false and frivolous charges by the Crime Branch of Jammu and Kashmir Police.
The locals alleged that sleuths of Crime Branch arrested seventy-five year old Joga Singh only because one of his son was active in Punjab militancy and is behind bars since last more than eight years.
Police had claimed that it recovered at least four hand grenades in Simble camp area and arrested Joga Singh in this regard.
Shouting anti-government and anti-police slogans, large number of people from Simble Camp, including women, today staged a protest demonstration demanding early release of the old man.
One of the relative of the arrested persons told News Agency of Kashmir that the team of Crime Branch, which claimed the recovery of hand grenades about 50 yards away from the house of Joga Singh, has leveled false and fabricated charges against the innocent person.
“At lease five police personnel in civvies came to our residence on that evening and claimed that they want to take Joga Singh with them regarding investigation purpose”, said one of the relative, “However, the old man has now been shifted to Joint Interrogation Center and a false case has been registered against him”.
It was alleged that Singh was unnecessary being harassed only because one of his son was once an active Pro-Khalistan militant. |
