Living in illusion Mehbooba, Omar misguiding people: Raman Suri
1/20/2023 10:37:28 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 20: "Living in illusion, both former Chief Ministers Mehbooba Mufti and Omar Abdullah are trying to misguide people just to hold on to their ground that is fast slipping beneath their feet. This is the reason Mehbooba hasn't been able to move on beyond August 2019 when Article 370 was abrogated and Omar keeps parroting about holding elections even when his party dared to boycott 2018 panchayat polls, 1996 Indian General Election and, both Omar and his Deputy Tara Chand deliberately allowed the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in Jammu and Kashmir to lapse in 2010 without holding elections to the 74 Municipal Committees, six Councils and two major Municipal Corporations".
This was stated by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member Raman Suri, who added that even when the entire Jammu and Kashmir has moved on, youngsters in Jammu as well as Kashmir are coming up with their start-ups, massive infrastructure is giving J&K round the year connectivity, system is being revamped, administration is being streamlined and public services are coming at the doorsteps of people, Mehbooba is continuing to talk about reconciliation, that's illogical, irrelevant and doesn't hold any ground.
Similarly, Omar Abdullah, whose party doesn't respect democracy, has reserved the top party positions for Abdullah family, allegedly rigged polls to unleash unrest in the Valley and dared to boycott several elections besides not holding elections to local bodies when in power as chief minister, keeps asking for assembly polls knowingly that whenever the Election Commission of India (EC) and security agencies will deem it right, the same will be held in the most free and fair manner enabling every party and individual to participate in the same.
He said, Mehbooba Mufti knows that much water has flown down the river Jhelum and nothing is going to be reversed yet she keeps talking about restoration of Article 370, a law that every wise person and politician, even like Ghulam Nabi Azad has admitted, can't be repealed now. This is the sphere where Mehbooba Mufti needs to reconcile and let this reality sink in her heart and soul that Article 370 is a passé and everyone is moving beyond that. However, by sticking to this demand or desire, she wants to keep common people in dark as she used to keep earlier by asserting that Article 370 can never be abrogated.
For the People's Democratic Party (PDP) President, this should be treated as the starting as well as the end point and is the final reconciliation that she's looking for, Raman Suri said. Appreciably, she has also gone on to say, "The solution to Jammu and Kashmir lies within the Indian Constitution" and for her kind information, the solution stands hammered out constitutionally after both the Houses of Parliament passed the bill and President of India put his seal, making it a law.
