One year term for rash driving

Jammu, Dec 31- City Judge, Jammu, Kusoom Pandita awarded one year rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 5000 to driver of the car, Shekhar, who due to rash and negligent driving hit a cyclist Adarsh Dubey, and died on November 4, 2003.
While awarding the sentence, City Judge Jammu after hearing Senior Prosecuting Officer, Rajesh Bakshi for the state and Advocate SDS Saini, held that the prosecution has proved the case behind any doubt that rash and negligent act on the part of accused driver Shekhar was proximate cause of death of the deceased and accordingly the accused is convicted and sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for one year u/s 304-A RPC with fine of Rs 5000.
