| KP body wants Omar to deliver | | | New Delhi, Dec 31- While congratulating Omar Abdullah over his being chosen as the next Chief Minister of J&K, Roots in Kashmir (RIK), the worldwide voice of Kashmiri Pandit youth, feel that Omar Abdullah as next Chief Minister of the State is a positive development in the recent political history of J&K. Aditya Raj Kaul and Rashneek Kher of Roots in Kashmir in a statement said that, although we may not endorse his ideology or his brand of politics, yet we feel that he being young and clean in an otherwise archaic and corrupt system is something to cheer about. Despite being the worst sufferers of violence in our home state, we wish to give peace a chance. We will welcome and support any step that Omar takes to bring peace, prosperity, reconciliation and development to our troubled state, statement said. Aditya Raj Kaul said, “We hope that in the passage of the time Omar would initiate steps to address the concerns of the exiled Pandit community. We wish him to reverse the process of ethnic cleansing of Pandits, de-link employment and rehabilitation from return, improve living conditions of Pandits living in various camps in Jammu, issue orders to de-encroach the land of temples and shrines of Pandits, table and campaign to pass the temple bill which will allow Pandits to control and manage their shrines in Kashmir and most important, bring the perpetrators of violence (like Yasin Malik, Bitta Karate and others ) against Pandits to the book.” He said, that Omar has declared a Pandit to be inducted into the cabinet shows his good intent. We would be glad if a true representative of the Pandit community is chosen and not someone who will only be of an ornamental value.
