Erratic weather to continue with rain, snow during next 24 hours in J&K

SRINAGAR, Jan 23: Light snowfall occurred at isolated places of Kashmir valley on Monday while the sky is partly to generally cloudy at most places with Meteorological office forecast of moderate to heavy snow over middle and higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.
The MeT office said that widespread Moderate Snow/(rain in Jammu) & Moderate to Heavy Snow over middle & higher reaches of J&K very likely from evening of January 24 to 25 and partly to generally cloudy with Light Snow/Rain at isolated places from January 26-28.
Widespread moderate to heavy rain, snow from January 29-30 and overall weather is very likely to remain erratic with cloudy, intermittent Light rain/snow till ending January in whole J&K.
The minimum temperature dips in Kashmir valley below freezing point as Srinagar had a low of minus 3.4 degree Celsius on Monday against 1.0 degree Celsius recorded the previous night. It was 1.1 degree Celsius below normal during this period of the season.
Srinagar also received traces during the past 24 hours.
Tourist hot spot of Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 4.7 degree Celsius against minus 6.3 degree Celsius a day ago. It also received 2.6 Cms of Snow and 3.1mm of rainfall during the past 24 hours till 0830 hours this morning.
Qazigund on Srinagar-Jammu national highway had a low of minus 1.0 degree Celsius against 0.2 degree Celsius the previous night and it also received 0.2 mm rainfall during the past 24 hours till 0830 hours today. Gulmarg in north Kashmir had a low of minus 9.6 degree Celsius against minus 6.8 degree Celsius recorded a day ago.
Kokernag recorded a low of minus 2.7 degree Celsius and the frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara witnessed a low of minus 2.9 degree Celsius on Monday, the MeT office.
