Early Times Report

JAMMU, Jan 29: Kavinder Gupta, former Deputy Chief Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader has pooh-poohed the Congress party’s Bharat Jodo Yatra saying that the Yatra got totally punctured in its last lap when NC and PDP leaders Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti stayed away from National flag hoisting in Lal Chowk thus leaving Rahul Gandhi alone. Kavinder expressed this while addressing a gathering during a programme organized here today to kick-start the work of lanes and drains at Ward No: 20 Valmiki Colony, Gandhi Nagar here today. The former Deputy Chief Minister said this itself proves that those supporting his Yatra are only a bunch of anti-national who have been rejected by the nationalist people of J&K since long. He said that it is time for Rahul Gandhi to realize that Congress is almost extinct now and the last minute efforts to revive it by holding the said Yatra cannot provide any relief to the party.
Earlier, Kavinder inaugurated the execution of the work estimated to be completed at a cost about Rs. 32 lakh in the presence of Corporator of the Ward Rahul Kumar. Prominent among others present on the occasion were Vishal Gupta, Rajesh Khullar, Sandeep Gupta, Rachit Khosla, Mohit Seth, Ritika Trehan, Monika Khosla, Vijay Verma, Sandeep Gupta, Jang Bahadhur and Anil Gupta besides a large number of local residents of the area.
The senior BJP leader asserted that the Govt at the Centre is paying focussed attention to Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory to ensure welfare and prosperity of the people of this region.
Addressing the gathering, Kavinder said, “The Union Government is paying focussed attention towards Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory and is determined to carry out developmental activities in every nook and corner of this sensitive region.” He said that the Govt stands fully committed to ensure the prosperity and welfare of the people especially the underprivileged sections of the society by providing the requisite infrastructure in all the areas. He asserted that BJP has already provided domicile certificates to Valmikis after abrogation of Article 370 thus ending the decades’ old discrimination against this.
Kavinder Gupta while congratulating the people of the area on commencement of the work said that this work of lanes and drains taken up today was a long pending demand of the people of this area and after the completion of this project the people of this Ward will get benefitted. He appreciated Councillor Rahul Kumar for making relentless efforts in keeping the wheel of development moving at full pace in the ward whether it is roads, sanitation and drinking water or power supply.
Meanwhile, the locals demanded that underground cabling should also be done in the streets of the ward and Kavinder assured them of duly considering the same.
