| JU cultural secretaries list demands | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 01- A deputation of cultural secretaries and students of University of Jammu led by Suresh Kumar, former Advisor, Students Cultural Council, JU and Sachin Bhagat Cultural Secretary, submitted a memorandum to the Dean, Department of Students Welfare Jammu University Dr. Dhian Singh Bhau listing various demands.
The demands put forth in the memorandum included re-tendering of Canteens running in the campus; displaying of rate list of the items being sold in the canteens; appointment of Dr. D.L. Choudhary as Associate Dean, DSW, who happens to be the permanent Associate Dean as well as the Chairman of SCC, JU.
In a press statement Suresh said that for the last ten years the same persons are running the canteens in the campus, thus resulting in lowering the standard because they know that there is no authority to question them on the standard. He said that by inviting fresh tenders, the sense of competition will increase that will automatically result in improving the standards.
Suresh also threatened that if their demands were not met within three days the students of JU shall be forced to launch a massive protest against the concerned authorities. Chinamaya, Poonam Honda, Heemant Kumar, Akhmat Choudhary, Tabish Tanvir, Rishi Kumar and Arif were among the deputationists.
