| Garbage dumping around airport banned | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 01- District Magistrate, Jammu, has banned dumping of garbage in the vicinity of Jammu airport area and has directed butcheries running in the area to stop dumping garbage to prevent air craft accidents due to bird hit. According to the official sources, District Magistrate Jammu Dr Mandeep Bhandari has issued stern warning to butcheries to stop dumping garbage as it attracts lot of birds affecting smooth landing and taking off air craft. Dr Bhandari issued this warning after Director Airport reported that due to garbage dumping and running of butcheries around airport area, lot of birds are attracted as a result of which the smooth landing and taking off air craft has been adversely affected. It has been observed that slaughter houses are dumping garbage and carcasses in the open nallah at run-way posing hazard to safe flying for both air force and civil crafts, Director Airport said in his communication to the District Magistrate. "If this practice is not stopped forthwith there is every possibility of air craft accidents due to bird hit", Dr Bhandari said warning strict action against the defaulters. The order shall remain in force for a period of two months, official sources said. |
