PSC rededicates to cause

JAMMU, JAN 1: Chairman Public Service Commission (PSC) Mr. M. S. Pandit has called for added devotion, discipline and honesty to run the prestigious organization more efficiently. He enjoined upon the staff of the Commission for putting in untiring efforts to increase the pace of selection process and conduct of examinations expeditiously.
Speaking at the “Re-dedication day” function of the Commission held here at PSC complex today Mr. Pandit said that though tangible improvement has come in the functioning of the Commission, yet added sincere and honest efforts are needed to make up for the losses caused due to disturbance in two regions of the state in making speedy selections to the posts referred by various departments. Under these circumstances every one in the Commission shall have to work with a social obligation Mr. Pandit said adding that any body found shirking his duties would not be spared.
Highlighting the achievements made in selection process and conduct of examinations, the Chairman said that against 350 selections made annually during last 15 years, PSC has now been able to make 2400 selections during last 4 fiscal years including 1220 selections made upto December during current financial year. He said only 878 selections were made during 2007-08 and 508 selections in 2006-07. Besides these, the interviews for 120 posts of lecturer 10+2 (Botany) have just been completed and interviews for 321 posts of Dental Surgeons in Health and Medical Education Department, 139 posts of Lecturer 10+2 (Mathematics) in School Education Department are going on and interviews for the posts of Lecturer (Computer Engg)/ Electrical Engg/Biotechnology in Technical Education shall be commenced in January 2009, he added.
He assured that the Commission would now completing selection process of the referred posts within a period of 4 to 6 months.
Secretary PSC, Mr. G. H. Tantray, Members of the Commission, Dr. Nissar Jan, Dr. R. L. Bharti, Dr. H. L. Goswami, Dr. Tara Singh, Prof Aman Rathore and Mr. Javed Ahmad Makhdomi were also present on the occasion.
