| Rajnath’s glorious 25 years end at Raj Bhawan | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 1: Rajnath, Private Secretary to Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, who had already attained superannuation, was given affectionate adieu by the Governor, N N Vohra, his Principal Secretary, B B Vyas, and other officers of the Raj Bhavan. Rajnath, who had almost become synonymous with the Raj Bhavan, for having served with the successive Governors for over 22 years, out of his about 44 years Government service, relinquished his office yesterday. He took over as Private Secretary to Governor, Mr Jagmohan, on 19 March 1986 and held the slot with General K V Krishna Rao and Mr Girish Chandra Saxena, in their twin tenures each, and Lt. General (Retd) S K Sinha. He continued to be the Private Secretary to Mr Vohra, from the day he assumed the gubernatorial assignment on 25 June 2008 till 31st December 2008. "It is in itself an achievement to hold the position for over two decades", said Mr Vohra, while lauding the contribution of Mr Rajnath. Complimenting Mr Rajnath on his successful service career, the Principal Secretary to Governor, Mr B B Vyas, said that he worked relentlessly and splendidly with the successive Governors during the most difficult times. He, on behalf of the officers and the staff of Raj Bhavan wished Mr Rajnath, a prosperous and satisfying life ahead. Rajnath is succeeded by Mr Hashmat Ali, as Private Secretary to Governor. The Governor and the Principal Secretary also lauded the tenure of Major Sanjay Thakur, as Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to the Governor. Major Sanjay was also given an affectionate farewell by the officers and the staff of the Raj Bhavan. The Governor presented mementos to Mr Rajnath and Major Sanjay Thakur. The Governor and Mr Vyas had praise for Major Thakur's commitment to duty.
