Katra, Jan 1: As many as, 65,76,315 pilgrims have visited the holy cave shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Deviji during the year 2008. This was disclosed by the Additional Chief Executive Officer Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Mr. M. K. Dwivedi here today.
On December 31, 2008 as many as 41,155 pilgrims paid their obeisance at the holy cave shrine as against 39,718 pilgrims who visited on that day in year 2007.
The month wise breakup for the visiting pilgrims during the year 2008 included January 3,30,593; February 2,19,081; March 5,98,425; April 6,00,788; May 9,36,073; June 10,87,380; July 5,21,612; August 2,67,610; September 4,13,840; October 6,31,790; November 4,85,018 and December 4,84,105 pilgrims.
Last evening a Jagrata was also held at the base camp Katra town in which noted singer Narinder Chanchal recited Mata ki Bhaints which was attended by thousands of pilgrims as well as local public of the town.
